Wow. This place was fantastic. The atmosphere inside is a “mountain den” style. Outside there is plenty of seating for everyone to enjoy a nice evening overlooking the lake.  Most weekends, they even have live music.  There are two, unisex, nicely decorated bathrooms inside.

 

The Grub: 

I started with the wedge. It was one of the best wedges I have ever had. The ingredients were all super fresh and tasted like they were straight out of the garden. Very crisp. The jalapeno bacon, or whatever it was (see menu) had the perfect amount of spice. Just a bit. Not too hot. 

Then I ordered the burger and it was amazing. Every last thing about it was top-notch. It was seasoned very well and the tomato tasted so fresh I wanted to order another burger just to eat the tomato! Perfect bun. Every bite got better and better. 

I tried the grilled chicken from Rusty’s plate. Perfectly cooked, seasoned, and tender. He said it was the best chicken he ever had at a restaurant. His Caesar salad was great as well. Probably in the top 3 Caesar dressings I have ever tried. So good and full of flavor. 

Great wine and bourbon selection. I had a lovely champagne from France which was pretty high-end and super delicious.  The people in Lake Toxaway seem to really know their wine as everything I’ve had anywhere in this town has been outstanding.  

We ended the meal with a bread pudding. It was GREAT! Very hot, so I had to blow on it quite a bit, but it had lovely flavors, lots of taste, and a touch of crunch.  I highly recommend it. 

The Service:

They were so friendly here! Everyone seemed genuinely happy to be working. Both people that served us were chatty and one of them even offered lots of suggestions of things to do in the area.

The Duds:

We were there for lunch and it was very casual. I could see dinner maybe being a little more dressed up if you wanted to go that way, but casual attire should be just fine here.
