The Buzzed Viking

A fun atmosphere with a lot of different beers, and meads! Lots of events and live music to keep you entertained too!

805 West Main St, Locust, NC 28097

The Digs:

This is a large room with tables and chairs, a small stage and a medium sized bar. The place is always packed on the weekends and if they have a band, plan to head there early if you want a seat. The one thing I find lacking is they don’t have any standing areas. If I had my wish, they’d make the area near the stage a standing area with tall tables to accommodate more people, but no one else seems to be complaining so that might just be me!

There is also an outdoor patio with very nice umbrellas and seating. I did not confirm if they actually serve out there as both times I’ve been, it’s been either cold or raining and no one was out there. It could be a sit at your own discretion patio, I’m not sure. I did see some games like corn hole and oversized connect four!

It is my understanding that they have another room available for private parties but I haven’t seen it yet.

The inside is decorated lovely with neat viking decor on the walls and the brew room, viewable if you go to the bathroom, is pretty neat to see (although I think they were still working on it when I was there as it didn’t seem finished.

There is a multi stall men’s and women’s bathroom. They aren’t big enough for hanging around too long but plenty of space on a busy evening.

The Grub:

I haven’t had anything here yet that I have loved. I tried the thunderballs, the steak sandwich, the fries, the onion rings, and the fried mushrooms. Of them all, I would pick the steak sandwich and the french fries again. I really didn’t care for anything else but I do intend to give it all another go after they get a little more established.

The beers are pretty good. They have a pretty good selection and they do have meads and ciders too. I really liked the donut cider which sounded super weird but had a great taste!

The Service:

Both times I have been, they have had a couple of servers wandering around with tablets serving everyone.  I don’t know if that’s their forever plan or not, but it is probably the best plan they have at the moment because it’s a bit crazy during busy times.  Both times I’ve been it has taken a minimum of 45 minutes for any person at my table to receive food.  Beers do tend to come a bit faster, but I would not recommend coming super hungry as it is going to be a while before you’re served food.

The Scratch (Per Person):

$16-$30

The Duds:

Most people are going to be casually dressed here but you can come any way you are, I’m sure.

Take Note:

They have a lot of events, so be sure to follow their Facebook page for more details on that. They also keep track of beers for service people. You can buy a beer and they mark it on the wall. When someone comes in and says they’re a police officer or teacher, etc., they take the mark down and give them a free drink.
