The Local Room

A semi-upscale spot with great ribs and salmon!  You’ll also find great cocktails, including bourbon here!

215 S Central Ave, Locust, NC 28097

The Digs:

This is a nicer restaurant with dim lighting. There is a very large bar in the center of the room, surrounded by tables. There is also an outdoor eating space.

There are two, multi stall restrooms marked for Men and for Women. They’re usually nice and very clean with lovely music playing inside. They also have very nice paper towels to dry your hands.

The Grub:

I’ve been here multiple times and tried just about everything. The food here is good with most items coming with a small and a large portion. If you can get anything with the beurre blanc sauce on it, it’s probably going to be a win. My personal favorite is the fire roasted salmon with beurre blanc and roasted tomatoes (tip- ask for extra tomatoes as they are super yummy).

You’ll also find a great burger here, very tasty and tender ribs, and excellent soups. I also love their bleu cheese wedge.  If you want an appetizer, their southern egg rolls are delicious with the smoked berry sauce on top. I could probably drink that smoked berry sauce, it is so good!

This is hands down the best place in Stanly County to get wine or cocktails. They have a rotating selection of cocktails that change regularly, with their popular option being the chef’s choice which is a smoked bourbon. They have the best selection of wine in the county with varying prices as well. I personally love the Ferrari Carano Reserve if you’re feeling like spending a little money. I’ve also been quite impressed with the random liquors you might find on their shelves, especially bourbons. Ask them what they have, you never know what you might get.

The Service:

It’s pretty good here. We usually sit at the bar and of course get great service and conversation. You’ll likely get your best service at the bar. This place can get pretty busy on the weekends so be prepared for a bit of a wait if you don’t have a reservation.

The Scratch (Per Person):

$31-$60 (with drinks) but you could definitely eat for less than 20.

The Duds:

I’ve come straight from the gym, but most people dress up a little, especially on the weekends.

Take Note:

Parking is a bit of a mess. Be aware, if the lot is full, there is a lot across the street to the right of the fire station. Do not park in the grass around the restaurant, you will risk being towed.
